Discovering Your Purpose | Day 5 | Three Prayers from the Life of Daniel Part 1

Updated: Jan 25

Over the next three days we are going to pray through “Nine Lessons from Daniel’s Prayer Life.” We are endeavoring to discover our purpose. Prayer is a key part of this endeavor. Today we will pray and meditate through the first three lessons.

1. Daniel was an INTERCESSOR

· Read Daniel 1:1-21

· Daniel consistently sought the LORD on behalf of others, and he saved many lives through intercession. In chapter 9 he sought the Lord for forgiveness on the behalf of his people.

2. Daniel sought COUNSEL

· Daniel 2:17-18 17 Then Daniel returned to his house and explained the matter to his friends Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.18 He urged them to plead for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that he and his friends might not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

· Daniel didn’t trust in his own wisdom and faith. He sought the counsel of other godly men to bring his petition before the LORD.

3. Daniel blessed GOD

· Daniel 2:20-23 20 and said: “Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. 21 He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. 22 He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him. 23 I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king.

· After God miraculously answers his prayer and saved many lives, including his own, Daniel blessed the Lord with praise and thanksgiving.
