Prayer & Fasting Guide - Indy Faith Leaders - Uniting our Voices Against Spiritual Wickedness

We are so glad you have decided to participate in the 2021 Season of Fasting and Prayer for Indy. Our hope is that this time of prayer and fasting will refresh us personally but also our community as we seek God’s blessing and direction. Our seven (7) weeks of prayer and fasting was intentionally designed to be flexible so that you can participate at any level. Whether you have done a full biblical fast before, or if this is your first time, you can start where you are and experience God in a powerful way.

Daily devotions, scripture reading and suggested prayers are recommended and we will share more with you as we progess. Please commit to reading each day. We pray that you will experience the presence and power of God in an extraordinary way as you commit yourself to Him this season. May you be closer to God than ever before as you seek Him first. As you prepare for this season, think about why you are fasting. Is it for spiritual renewal, for guidance, for healing, for the resolution of problems, for special grace to handle a difficult situation, or for a major decision? Ask the Holy Spirit to clarify His leading and objectives for your season of prayer and fasting. This will enable you to pray more specifically and strategically. Write these down in the space provided below, and be open to hearing what God wants to show you in those areas. When praying, make your primary goal to know Jesus more and experience Him. Focus first on what’s right about Him, such as His goodness and His greatness, and see everything else through that filter. Finally, make time to pray daily. Don’t overcomplicate this! Just talk to God. Have that place and time where you can seek Him every day. If you don’t plan to pray, you won’t. During this fast, I am praying and believing God for: ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ We are asking that you post your experiences to our Facebook page, so that we may all discern more clearly what God’s is speaking to us collectively. Praying expectantly with you, The Indy Faith Leaders believe that The Bible defines “fasting” as a Christian's voluntary abstinence from food for spiritual purposes. It is Christian, for fasting by a non-Christian has no eternal value since the discipline's motives and purposes are to be God-centered. Fasting is voluntary in the sense that it is not to be coerced. Fasting is more than just the ultimate crash diet for the body, it is abstinence from food for spiritual purposes.
